The Best Gnome 46 Extensions For Minimalists

Necessity is the mother of invention

Yesterday, I installed OpenSUSE Tumbleweed on a test machine, eagerly anticipating today’s upgrade that would bring GNOME to its latest version, 46. However, this update inadvertently caused my favorite Gnome extension, “Dash to Panel,” to stop working because it is not yet compatible with the new release.

Undeterred by this setback, I embarked on a mission to find suitable alternatives for my minimalistic desktop preferences. After extensive research and testing, I settled upon installing “Just Perfection“.

Just Perfection allows me to relocate the top panel to the bottom of my screen, while Open Bar offers customizable transparency options among its many features. The result is a sleek, modern desktop that has quickly captured my heart (see screenshot below).

As I continue to use these exceptional extension combinations on my Dell workstation, I find myself wanting to install these extensions on all of my other computers as well. There’s something about this setup that inspires me and enhances my productivity in the Gnome 46 environment.
